This Privacy Policy describes how Clear Path Estate Sales LLC, doing business as ThriftMedia ("ThriftMedia," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the ThriftMedia mobile application and the website thrift-media.com (together, the "Service").
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider, Clerk. If you register as a company or auctioneer, we also collect your business name, bio, and contact details.
- Location.With your permission, we use your device's location to show nearby sales and plan routes. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
- Content you post. Listings, photos, comments, and saved sales are stored on our servers. Listing addresses and photos are publicly visible by design.
- Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep records of transactions (amount, date, status) for billing and audit purposes.
- Technical data. When you post a comment we store a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address for abuse prevention. We do not store raw IP addresses with comments.
How we use information
- To operate the Service: show sales near you, process listings, and deliver alerts you subscribe to.
- To moderate content: comments are screened by automated moderation before publication.
- To process payments and prevent fraud.
- To communicate with you about your account and, with your consent, send sale digest emails. Every digest includes an unsubscribe link.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the platform (Clerk for authentication, Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for photo storage, Resend for email, AI providers for content moderation and pricing suggestions).
- Law enforcement when required by law.
- Other users, for content that is public by design (listings, photos, approved comments, company directory profiles).
Your rights
Depending on your state of residence (including under the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain data sharing. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@thrift-media.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Data retention and deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. Some records (such as payment transactions) may be retained where required by law. Deleted accounts and listings are removed from public view immediately.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), token-based authentication, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
